How long before my bill is paid?
By law, the Office is required to render a decision within 3 months of receiving sufficient documentation.

What are the common reasons why there may be a delay in payment?

- Charity Care: uninsured patients must first apply for Charity Care and provide a copy of the final determination.
- Itemized Bills: The Office requires an itemized bill (not a billing statement) with the following information: Name and address of provider, tax I.D. number, patient name, date of service, procedure code and bill amount.
- Medical Records: The Office requires medical records to determine if the treatment is related to the crime and injury.
- Relevant Documentation: Any other relevant documentation necessary to process the claim (e.g. Civil Suit Recovery)
